Something Funny

Run for the hills! It is Friday the thirteenth! Why am I stating the obvious? Well, my eldest daughter’s school is celebrating Friday the thirteenth with a little dress up day. The children have been asked to ‘body swap’ and wear another person’s clothes for the day.

It was suggested that they could wear their mother’s, father’s, brother’s or sister’s clothes for the day or even dress as a baby. Last night, I suggested that my daughter may want to wear my clothes. I suggested a dress shirt, a tie and maybe a blazer. She recoiled at the idea. I said it was fine and if that wasn’t her ‘thing’ it was cool. Clearly the feminity is strong in her.

By bedtime she had still not decided what to wear. We woke up this morning and I went to make breakfast. She said she would raid her mother’s cupboard for something to wear.

She arrived at the breakfast table wearing my green nude shoulder top (I store some of my more obviously femme clothes in my spouse’s cupboard); this one:

So she had decided to wear my clothes after all! I had to do my best not to giggle all the way through breakfast…

Sadly, the top was a little too big for her (my shoulders are wide) and the nude shoulder style meant that it kept gaping and slipping off her. So after breakfast she substituted it for one of her mother’s smaller tops that would fit her better.

Parenting is filled with a myriad of unexpected giggles and special joys. This was one such moment and I just had to share it. I hope you found it as amusing as I did.
